Slink, slink, slink  near the field I quietly moved to see my first bobolink.

Blink, blink, blink I missed seeing the fast moving bobolink.

the consensus of the flock would be

“please don’t gawk at us.”

Three Birds I Saw Today

The first bird I saw today was elegant.

The second bird I saw today was resplendent.

The third bird I saw today wasn’t magnificent, just plain weird.

The Worm-Eating Warbler’s Ideal Warm Meal

The Worm-Eating Warbler

Enjoys nothing better than dining on a warm worm cobbler

and instead of warbling she keeps on gobbling.

The Elegant Tern? The Royal Tern? The Sooty Tern? The Least Tern?

Off shore I had a good look at the back of some kind of a tern,

but which one it was I’ll never be sure

Because it refused to turn.

The Owl

If you wrapped a towel around an owl

How could you tell if it scowled?

The Starling

A pest as soon as it gets out of the nest,

The starling is no farmer’s little darling.

The Silly Willet

The silly Willet thought it could eat millet

Thinking the millet would fill it

but when it couldn’t bill it

it did spill it

which definitely didn’t thrill it

so instead it decided to kill it
